Dr. Nancy Dowling is an expert in South and Southeast Asian Art with years of training and experience.
- Ph. D. in Southeast Asian Art and Archaeology from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, one of the world’s leading institutions of Asian Studies.
- Over 25 years of researching and analyzing South and Southeast Asian art including writing scholarly articles and conducting archaeological field work in the Mekong delta.
- 17 years of teaching as a tenured professor of South and Southeast Asian art at the University of Hawaii, specializing in Buddhist arts of Asia and the arts of Ancient India as well as Mainland and Island Southeast Asia .
- Developed a new technique for authenticating early Cambodian sculpture in which measurements taken directly from the images make it possible to reconstruct the ancient systems of proportion used by the sculptors.
- Authenticated numerous South and Southeast Asian works of art for various museums, private collectors, and U.S. Customs.
- Numerous professional contacts in the art world including museum curators, private dealers and other Asian scholars.
